Weekly Bulletin- October 26

1.      Rising Freshman Lottery:  Friday, October 30, at 3:00 is the deadline for this year’s lottery.  If you have a child that you wish to have enrolled for next year, he or she must have an application on file before the deadline.  Also, if you have friends, co-workers, or any other groups or individuals that need to be reminded, please pass this along.  We currently have received approximately 250 applications.

2.      Leadership will be sponsoring our first school wide community service project in conjunction with some of the other middle colleges. We will be collecting warm items, such as jackets, blankets, scarves, hats, and other items. Students will receive one service hour for heavy items or three light items. The deadline to turn these items in to your Enrichment teacher is October 27. Students who earn 2 more hours with this project are eligible for a jeans Friday at the end of the month.

3.      Fall formal tickets will go on sale soon!  The fall formal dance will be Friday, Nov 13. Tickets are $15 until 10/30 and will be $20 until 11/6.

4.      Fall Blood Drive:  This year’s drive will be held on October 26.  We need your participation.  We recently received $1000 from the Blood Connection as a result of our campaigns last year.  We need to continue to improve our participation each year to continue receiving the rewards. Sign-ups will be available this week and/or at student led conferences at the end of the week.

5.      State Volleyball Honor:  As our volleyball team prepares for the play-offs, Gloria Burroughs has been named to this year’s  North South All-Star Team.  Congratulations to her for this honor.

6.      Senior Ad Information for Yearbooks was sent in the mail several weeks ago. If parents have questions, please email Ms. Cheek at jcheek@bmcchs.org. The deadline for all senior yearbook ads is Friday, October 30. The information is also posted on our website. You can reach it by clicking on “Students” and it’s on the left.

7.     FREE Drive Thru Flu Shot Clinic: Hillcrest Memorial Hospital will host a FREE Drive Thru Flu Shot Clinic on Thursday, October 22nd from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. at the front entrance to the hospital. These shots are for adults only and will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Please dress appropriately so that your upper arm is easily accessible to the person giving the shot.

8.     FREE Screenings for Uninsured Women: Uninsured women ages 40-64 who meet certain income guidelines can receive free clinical breast exams, pelvic exams, pap smears and mammograms at Hillcrest Memorial Hospital on November 4th and December 9th. To register, please call 656-3076.
