Brashier Middle College Cross Country

2019 Summer Running Info & Schedule

For the Fall 2019 Cross Country season, Brashier Middle College will again field a Varsity Boys team of 12 runners and a Varsity Girls team of 12 runners. Brashier Cross Country is competitive: both Girls and Boys teams will likely be ranked in the Top 6 in the State when preseason polls come out this summer.

A tryout will determine the makeup of each team. On the mornings of Monday, August 12 and Wednesday, August 14 competitive runs will be held on the Brashier campus. (Please note that tryouts take place the week school starts.) Runners must run at least one of these days and may run both in an attempt to improve their tryout time. The 12 Girls and 12 Boys with the fastest tryout times will comprise the 2019 Varsity squads. Daily practice will then begin on the first day of school, August 15.

For this reason, summer running is vital. Beginning in June, I will offer opportunities to run together on Tuesday and Thursday mornings in Early Summer, Mid-Summer and Late Summer. I am also providing you a Couch-to-5K Training Program (for beginners) and a 10-Week Training Program (for those already running) to help get you ready for Tryouts in August. Team workouts are not mandatory; you are free to run/train on your own. You should run a minimum of 3 days a week this summer if you would like to compete for a spot on the Varsity teams in the fall.

Each of our Team Runs this Summer will begin at 8:00 AM and end by 9:30 AM. You will find a schedule of dates and locations below. Please get in the habit of bringing your own fluids to these summer runs and wearing the proper athletic clothing and footwear.

If you were a member of the 2018 team and continue to get my text messages, I have all the contact information I need from you for the time being. All other runners will need to provide me a cell phone number so I can communicate with you via text message over the summer. Please take a moment right now to text your name to the number below and I will add you to my list.

One final, important note: In order to take part in summer workouts with the team, runners will need an up-to-date physical form (Brashier's physical form completed by a physician) and Acknowledgement of Risk form. Exceptions to this rule must be granted by Athletic Director, Gordon Stallard.

My contact information is below. Please share this information with your parents and, if you have questions, please let me know. I'm looking forward to another great season of BMC XC!
