Brashier Middle College Cross Country

2018 Summer Running Info & Schedule

For the 2018 Cross Country season, Brashier Middle College will field a Varsity Boys team (12 runners) and a Varsity Girls team (12 runners). Brashier Cross Country is competitive: the Boys team will likely be ranked 4th in the State and Girls 6th in the State when preseason polls come out this summer.

A Tryout will determine the makeup of each team. On the mornings of Friday, August 10, and Monday, August 13, competitive runs will be held on the Brashier course. (Please note: These dates are prior to the start of school on Tuesday, August 14.) Runners will run both days, their placements in these races will be averaged, and the top 12 boys and top 12 girls will comprise the 2018 Varsity squads. Daily practice will then begin on the first day of school (August 14).

For this reason, Summer running is vital. Beginning Tuesday, June 12, I will offer 2 opportunities each week to run together: Tuesday and Thursday mornings. I am also providing you a 10-Week Training Program, to get you ready for Tryouts in August. Team workouts are not mandatory; you are free to run on your own and should be doing so on other days of the week. You should run a minimum of 3 days a week this Summer, on your own and/or with the team, if you would like to compete for a spot on the Varsity teams in the Fall.

Each of our team runs this Summer will begin at 8:00 AM and end by 9:15 AM. You will find a schedule of dates and locations on the back of this sheet. Please get in the habit of bringing your own fluids to these Summer Runs, and wearing proper athletic clothing and footwear.

If you were a member of the 2017 team and continue to get my text messages, I have all the contact information I need from you for the time being. All other runners will need to provide me a cell phone number so I can communicate with you via text message. Please take a moment right now to text your name to the number below and I will add you to my text list.

One final, important note: In order to take part in summer workouts with the team, runners will need an up-to-date physical (Brashierís physical form completed by a physician). The physical form can be downloaded from the Brashier Athletics website and taken to your family physician.

My contact information is below. Please share this information with your parents and if you, or they, have questions at any time, please let me know. Iím looking forward to another great season of BMC XC!
